If you are planning a vacation at the Jersey Shore this summer don’t forget to bring your taste buds along for the ride. The beach isn’t the only reason for the season, as the shore has a plethora of delicious dining treasures to explore. So after a long day at the boardwalk and beach, don’t forget to please that palate.

Let us begin with, appropriately enough, seafood. You can get seafood practically anywhere on the shore, from the boardwalk to the lcoal market, but two places in particular are really gems when it comes to serving up dishes from the sea.

Red’s Lobster Pot on Inlet Drive in Point Pleasant Beach is one of best kept secrets at the shore. This quaint little one room building sits right on the Manasquan River, providing a magnificent view and a countless number of tasty dishes to choose from. Red’s is sure to please any seafood craving, and for those just along for the ride, there are plenty of pasta dishes to choose from as well. Dishes are reasonably priced, and remember to bring your own. For no frills seafood, right off the boat, visit Spike’s, either on Main Street in Belmar or on Broadway in Point Pleasant Beach. This is authentic seafood at its best, a true fishlover’s paradise. Dishes are $20 and up, and remember to bring your own.

If you are looking for New American Cuisine, head to the Parkside Bistro, at the Railroad Plaza in Manasquan. It offers a neighborhood setting with succulent cuisine. There is a dish for everyone here, raning from inside-out tuna carpaccio, pork stuffed with truffled goat cheese, to gourmet pizza and sushi. Prices are in $20’s per dish and don’t forget to bring your own.

If you are looking for fine dining, try Meritage on Route 34 in Wall Township. The decor is elegant, and the restaurant features a full bar. Dishes are also fancy, including the asian-spiced tuna, and the rather high price is well worth the treat.

If you are looking or Mexican, visit Que Pasa on Broadway in Point Pleasant Beach. It is casual and remember to bring your own margaritas. There is really nothing fancy to this place, but all the staple Mexican dishes are there, and at reasonably priced.

To satiate an ethnic craving here are a list of options. Europa South on Route 35 in Point Pleasant Beach is a nice spot to catch some Portuguse and Spanish fare. For Inidan, give Peacock in Long Branch a try. And for Lebanese, try Ranoosh in Long Branch, which features Middle Eastern favories. And for Thai cuisine, try Suan Garden in Red Bank, a funky but pretty restaurant in the Galleria Shopping Complex.
