Cape May Point Birdwatching

Cape May Point Birdwatching

Many folks find the bird watching at Cape May Point State Park Bird Sanctuary to be some fo the best and most exotic brid watching available throughout the entire state of New Jersey. Cape May County is located at the very bottom of the state of New Jersey and is situated directly across the Delaware River from the state of Delaware.

You can find plent of great summer vacation rentals in Cape May, Cape May Point, and Diamon Beach, which is also located in Cape May County, right on JerseyShoreRentals.com - listing your rental property on this website is free and you can search dozens of top rated rental properties for free as well.

Cape May Point also offers you a chanc to see on of the oldest and most famous lighthouses in New Jersey. Loacted at the furthest most point, the Cape May POint lighthouse was erected to detur ships entering into the Delware River from becoming stranded in shallow waters at the Cape May Point. Climbing the stairs is not an easy task for the faint at heart, however, if you’re healthy enough to make the trek without loosing your breath… then the view will certainly take your breath away.

While in Cape May, don’t miss visiting the downtown area filled with shops of grandure. Quante gifts and antiques await your viewing pleasure. Bars, grills and fine dining amist the downtown make up some of the places you have to visit in old historic downtown Cape May.

Dolphin Beaches Itself in Cape May

At Diamond Beach in the county od Cape May New Jersey, a dolphin apparently beached itself during the cold season, which may have been the cause. A teen checking out surf conditions Feb. 14 about 4 p.m. on Diamond Beach near Raleigh Avenue discovered a beached Striped Dolphin. Lower Township Animal Control Officer Don Montgomery responded along with Wildwood Crest Police.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine was called. Volunteer Doug Ford arrived and began placing wet towels on the dolphin, which had body gashes on its stomach.

Marine Mammal Stranding Center Director Bob Schoelkopf said the dolphin died shortly after his staff arrived on scene. The dolphin’s carcass has been
shipped New Bolten Center at the University of Pennsylvania Veterinary School in Chester, Pa for a necropsy to determine the cause of death, he
said.

Schoelkopf said the dolphin was female. The age of the dolphin will be determined by the necropsy, he said.

Striped Dolphins are deep-sea animals.

“When they come ashore, it is usually to die or they wash up dead,” said Schoelkopf.

He said gashes on the dolphin may have come from it scraping along jetties as it neared the beach. The dolphin would not have come ashore unless it was sick or injured, said Schoelkopf.

The center seeks to train local volunteers to assist in marine mammals. Those interested can contact the center at 609-266-0538 or visit the Web
site: www.marinemammalstrandingcenter.org.

Brookdale College 2008 Guitar Show

Brookdale College 2008 Guitar Show

I was recently at the Brookdale Community College Guitar Show for 2008. There was maybe 200-300 people there throughout the building, although it was hard to tell exactly because there were two seperate floors, and rooms were lectures were going on and and bands playing. I did get to shoot some video footage and made a little clip for you to watch. I even got to do a Cameo lead solo, although its obviously not my best performance,(I had just woke up and didnt hav my coffee yet) although the cover charge is steep, I would recommemnd every guitar enthusiest to go to this thing, but go early and spend the day, pack a lunch cuz the food sucks. This year we’ve also added The Helping Hands Hallway with over a dozen local non-profit tables that we are offering for free to these organizations. We’ve partnered with GameStop to give you a chance to play this uber-popular game with prizes handed out to the best scoring players.
